I sit at my computer and the urge to write comes to me. I start to feel a shift in the air. Summer is on its last leg. Here in Vienna, we have been experiencing a huge amount of rainfall and a lot of people are stranded due to floods outside the city. We are somewhat forced to come to a stand still. However difficult these moments are, they invite us to slow down and think. It is time to do a little introspection and see what is inside us. It is time to reflect.
Today starts the cycle of the Full Supermoon in Pisces. She will pick at 04:34 on the 18th September. The full moon sheds light into the sign she currently is in. Right now, in Pisces, she invites us to dream. Dream big, it’s a supermoon after all. The symbol of the sign of pisces is two fish swimming in different directions. I believe it represents the division between reality and fantasy, material and spiritual or even mental and emotional. Piscean types love to loose themselves in daydreaming. With the full moon in pisces, it is time to harness this energy and put it to use.
So how does one do this with the tarot. Do you have a journaling practice? Maybe today is time to start one. How does journaling work? It’s very simple. The easiest way is to draw a card from you deck, look at it, connect with it, see what goes through your mind when observing the card and write things down. The idea here, is not to have a beautiful structured text, but to dump everything that the card brings up onto paper. You would be surprised what comes up. The most interesting thing is to see, a few days or weeks later, the insights you might get by reading your tarot journal.
In the Hermetic tradition, The card of the moon is associated with the sign of pisces. The moon is about dreams, intuition, the dark path to walk to get to the light. I invite you to pick the moon card from your deck and take a few minutes to look at the image. Then start writing down what you feel, what you think. Do not stop writing for at least 5 minutes if it’s your first time. The more you write, the better.
The second approach to journaling is the following: ask a question and then pull a card.
What dreams is the full moon bringing to my attention?
Or
What in my unconscious need to be brought to light in my conscious mind?
Or
How can I bring my dreams into reality?
(remember the two fish swimming into two directions)
Choose one of the questions above, look at the card you just picked, and write down in your journal what comes up. Anything. Everything. Let it go. Feel the watery aspect of the Pisces moon take you with its flow and bring you all these answers. Feel the water wash over you and bring you its wisdom. Imagine you are a fish swimming with the flow of the river you’re in. The flow of life.
